The College Foundation encourages students to take advantage of the generous U.Va. alumni who welcome contact from undergraduates. From HoosNetwork, to UCAN (University Career Assistance Network), to U.Va. Clubs, there are many ways to connect with alumni for career advice and insights. U.Va. Alumni Association offers details about these and other resources for building a network of alumni career contacts.
Virginia Alumni Mentoring
Virginia Alumni Mentoring is a program that connects third-year students with alumni who have volunteered to provide insights about the process of choosing and starting a career in their specific field.
The program provides students and their alumni mentors a structured means of initiating a professional relationship to discuss career interests and topics of professional preparation: together, they develop goals for their regular meetings, during which the alumni mentors offer insights about their own undergraduate experiences, career progression and current work which supports mentees in navigating their own chosen career paths.
The mission of this collaborative effort of the College Foundation, University Career Services, the Alumni Association, and College Council is to afford all students at the University (beginning with those in the College) an opportunity for sustained career exploration guided by knowledgeable alumni and parents, and to give alumni and parents a new means for meaningful engagement with the University and its students.
