Dear Colleagues,

I write to encourage A&S faculty to identify appropriate candidates for the Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program, an initiative to advance research in the social sciences and humanities. This year’s program seeks to award up to thirty-five fellowships of $200,000 each (lasting one or two years) to talented scholars colleges and universities across the country.

UVA is allotted two nominations, one of which must be a “junior faculty” member (maximum of 10 years out from Ph.D., regardless of rank) and one senior scholar.

Candidates for the fellowship will not be considered eligible without the support of their institution, therefore the Provost’s Office will be managing the internal competition to identify the two candidates that UVA will support.

Initial applications are due to the Provost’s Office on October 25, 2017 by 5:00pm via InfoReady (https://virginia.infoready4.com/#competitionDetail/1764232),
and details about the process can be found here:

Thank you for your engagement in the Carnegie Fellows process. Please feel free to reach out to your department chair and the Dean’s Office for guidance and support.
