Advances in AI could soon mean the end for many white-collar professionals like teachers or therapists.  For some, the benefits outweigh the loss of jobs and income, but according to Allison Pugh, a professor of sociology with UVA's College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, the real test will be in how the loss of opportunities to interact with each other will affect our wellbeing.

In a recent episode of the podcast With Good Reason, hosted by Virginia Humanities, Pugh spoke with executive producer Sarah McConnell about what's at stake if we eliminate the kinds of jobs that connect humans to each other.
