Engaging First Years Through Music Video
Music Video Analysis (EGMT 1510) is an Engagements course that teaches first year UVA students how to build a vocabulary to break down and analyze audio visual products. In the second half of the quarter, association dean for transfer students and assistant professor of music Elizabeth Ozment tasks them with forming groups to shoot and edit their own original music videos for popular songs.
Last week, Ozment invited the entire class to Newcomb Hall Theatre to celebrate the videos they produced for songs by Tyler the Creator, Taylor Swift and other popular artists. See their work in the video posted above and find out which team of students won Ozment's coveted Music Video Engagements Award, voted on by their peers.
