Colonnade Club Celebration Recognizes Three Years of A&S Faculty Promotions
The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences celebrated the promotions of 151 faculty members to higher ranks among our tenured and academic general faculty with a Sept. 17 reception at UVA’s Colonnade Club in Pavilion VII on the Lawn. The larger celebration recognized three years of faculty promotions and came after the pandemic paused the scheduling of an annual event for several years.
Christa Acampora, the Buckner W. Clay Professor of Philosophy and Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and Jenn Bair, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Sociology, congratulated the promoted faculty in attendance.
As Acampora noted in her remarks, our recently promoted faculty span the many disciplines in Arts and Sciences, ranging from African American and African Studies to Women, Gender and Sexuality; from Anthropology to Art; from English to French to American Sign Language; from Astronomy to Psychology.
“The achievements of this group of colleagues, and all of you here who also supported them along the way ... this is real evidence of our aspiration in Arts and Sciences for creating a community that is a “we” that is greater than the sum of its parts,” Acampora said.
