Religion, Race & Democracy Lab Launches New Website and Podcast, “Sacred & Profane"

Old Cabell Hall at the University of Virginia

The Democracy Initiative’s Religion, Race & Democracy Lab launched a new website in July and released the first episodes of its podcast, “Sacred & Profane.”

The new website offers a media-rich portal to student-produced research on the key themes of the lab, which is committed to exploring how religion and race work within democratic societies in ways that can help us to live together in today’s pluralistic and increasingly global societies. It also serves as home to episodes of “Sacred & Profane,” which examines how the sacred is set apart from life, while religion is involved in every aspect of our day-to-day world.

The podcast represents the efforts of a four-person team: Emily Gadek, senior producer; Martien Halvorson-Taylor, co-host & Lab co-director; Kurtis Schaeffer, co-host & Lab co-director; and Ashley Duffalo, Lab program and communications manager.
